About Our Family

Depending on who you ask, you will hear a different version of how Nicki & Carlos met every time.

But here is how it really happened . . .
Carlos and I met in December of 2001 at none other than the YMCA.
It was not love at first sight - LOL!   While Carlos was working as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Providence Medical
Center, he was also working as a Personal Trainer focusing on the Cardiac Therapy Program the YMCA was offering.  I had just
moved back to Portland from Everett, WA and resumed my position as Group Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer at the YMCA
(as well as starting a new job as Human Resources & Payroll Specialist for a local Petroleum Company).    The day we met, I was
coming in to teach a step aerobics class as Carlos was finishing up one of his Cardiac Therapy sessions. We had seen each other
around the YMCA before, but since this time it was one-on-one,  I was naturally a bit nervous to introduce myself.   So . . . I
walked up to Carlos, spoke as fast as my nerves allowed me to and basically told him to wrap things up and leave the room so I
could set up for my class.  So much for a first impression!!!  Carlos remembers thinking, “Who does this chick think she is?” (Well I
think he thought something else but we can't print that.)  And promptly went to our supervisor to complain about how rude I
was.  Even though I was rude, it did not stop Carlos from giving me that charming smile (that all of you have become so
accustomed to) and introducing himself to me before leaving the room.

The next month (Jan 2002) we were paired up to work on a Cardiac Therapy project.   We were “stuck together” in a racquetball
court doing a series of testing for our Cardiac Therapy participants. As the day progressed, we worked surprisingly well together
and found that we had a lot in common. We both have a great passion for the Health & Fitness Industry, helping people achieve
health & happiness, and ice cream.   Lots and lots of ice cream!

It took a few more projects, lots of fun and adventurous dates, and Carlos’ persistence for me to realize that we were destined to
be together.  I just could not resist that charming smile!  We knew we wanted more for ourselves by being able to give more of
ourselves.  We wanted to help others out.  So in 2003, we began looking & planning for ways to stand out on our own in the
Health & Fitness Industry.  We created Therapeutic Trainers Network (TTN).   In January of 2004 we officially became TTN,
holding strong to our vision of service and being a tool for our clients to help them achieve their optimal level of health & fitness,
which has become our mission statement.

We have been very fortunate to work with every range or client, from beginners of exercise, elderly individuals, skiers &
snowboarders, wheelchair individuals, tri-athletes, runners, cyclists, pre/post natal women, obese individuals, kids of all ages and
pre/post rehab individuals.  We are completely confident that regardless of someone’s special considerations, we will be able to
help them achieve a higher level of health and fitness and to improve their day-to-day living.
We look forward to the endless possibilities!

We thank God every day for our blessings:  finding each other, our awesome kids, our wonderful family, our supportive friends
and our amazing clients.   We appreciate the opportunities we have found to work together, sharing our experiences &
knowledge, and especially helping  those around us to achieve and maintain their personal best.  A huge Thank You to all who
are a part of our TTN Family!
We look forward to welcoming you to our family!
